Once upon a time, in a forgotten corner of the world, there was a dragon who was not like the others. Instead of roaring like thunder and breathing fiery flames, our friend had a little, but troublesome, "internal heat." His name was Dracurito, and he found himself at a crossroads: he wanted to be feared, but his only power was to spit out ice cubes. In a world where dragons were feared and revered for their blazing fire, Dracurito felt a little... how should we say it? Cold!
Dracurito lived in a cave at the top of Wacky Mountain, a mountain so tall that the birds needed snacks to make the journey. The cave was decorated with ice crystals that sparkled like stars on a clear night, and its floor was covered with soft snow carpets. Although his home was beautiful, Dracurito often felt sad because he dreamed of being the most feared dragon in the kingdom.
One day, while Dracurito gazed at his reflection in a crystal-clear puddle, he murmured to himself, "If only I could breathe fire like all the other dragons, I could scare the humans and earn their respect." But instead, every time he opened his mouth, out came ice cubes!
So, with a deep sigh, Dracurito decided that this summer would be different. He had heard rumors of a festival taking place in the nearby village, and he thought that if he could impress everyone there, he might find his place in the world. After all, the summer festival was famous for its games, sweets, and, most importantly, its ice cream.
The day of the festival arrived, and Dracurito prepared himself. He brushed his scales (sometimes he overdid it a bit, leaving his head a little spiky, but that made him look fiercer), adjusted a cape made of clouds, and left his cave hoping that today would change his destiny.
When he arrived in the village, he was greeted by a bustling atmosphere of laughter, music, and the delicious smell of food. The square was filled with people, all enjoying the attractions. There was a roller coaster made of popsicle sticks, a pie-eating contest that made everyone messy, and, of course, a big water balloon fight. Dracurito watched from a distance, his heart pounding. If he could do something impressive, maybe he could scare people and earn their respect.
Determined, he approached a group of children playing with balloons. "Hello, little humans!" said Dracurito, trying to sound threatening. But all he managed was to get the children to turn and look at him with wide eyes filled with wonder.
"A dragon! Look, a dragon!" shouted one of them. The other kids began to laugh and run toward him, not in fear but in excitement.
Dracurito, a bit confused, thought this was his chance. "I am the most feared dragon of Wacky Mountain! Fear me!" But when he opened his mouth, instead of a terrifying roar, out came a shower of ice cubes that landed softly on the ground. Instead of scaring the little ones, they provided an unexpected refreshing rain.
The children began to laugh even more. "Look! Snow is falling from the dragon!" Without thinking twice, they started to collect the ice cubes and toss them at each other like snowballs on a warm summer day. Dracurito, astonished, realized he wasn’t scaring anyone. Instead, he had become the hero of the party, the dragon who brought the snow!
As the day went on, Dracurito joined the children in their game. Each time he spat out ice cubes, more and more people gathered to see the special dragon. Not far away, Mrs. Jam, the town baker, watched him with curiosity. "If this dragon can refresh the kids, why not use him to make ice cream?" she thought.
So, with a mischievous smile, Mrs. Jam ran over to Dracurito and said, "Dear dragon! Would you like to help me make the best ice cream in the world?"
"Me? Help make ice cream?" asked Dracurito, almost incredulous. But, feeling the warmth of excitement, he accepted the offer.
Together, Mrs. Jam and Dracurito began mixing the ingredients. She provided fresh fruits, sugars, and flavors, while Dracurito added ice cubes to the mixture. When the combination was ready, Dracurito, with a frosty breath, cooled it down until it turned into delicious, smooth ice cream.
Soon, a line of children and adults formed in front of the table. "Try the dragon’s ice cream!" shouted Mrs. Jam. "It’s the coolest of all!"
When the first child took a bite, his face lit up like a Christmas tree. "It’s the best ice cream in the world!" he exclaimed, and soon everyone was rushing to try it. Dracurito felt very happy. Instead of being feared, he had become a hero, all thanks to his internal heat!
The festival continued, and laughter echoed everywhere. Dracurito realized that he didn’t need to breathe fire to be special. Instead, he had found his purpose: bringing joy and coolness to the people of the village. Laughter multiplied, and Dracurito even joined in a sack race, although with his big wings and bulky body, he slid more than he jumped. But no one laughed at him; on the contrary, everyone cheered for his effort.
However, while everyone was having fun, a sudden crash shook the square. A group of knights arrived, their armor shining in the sun. "Halt! Dangerous dragon!" shouted one of them, pointing his sword at Dracurito. Everyone enjoying the festival stopped in their tracks, and Dracurito felt his heart sink.
But before he could feel scared, the children began to laugh. "No, no, no! This dragon isn’t dangerous! He’s the Ice Cube Dragon!" shouted one of them. And without a second thought, Dracurito shot a blast of ice cubes toward the knights.
The knights, surprised, found themselves covered in ice and began to slide across the ground like ice skaters. Laughter filled the air, and the knights, who had originally come to capture the dragon, ended up joining the party. They took off their armor and started playing in the snow that Dracurito had created.
At the end of the day, as the sun set and the sky turned warm colors, Dracurito realized that he had found not only his place in the world but also friends. Everyone cheered for him, and the square was filled with joy. "Long live Dracurito, the Ice Cube Dragon!" chanted the children and adults.
And so, Dracurito did not become the dragon they feared, but the dragon everyone wanted. He learned that being different was not a bad thing; on the contrary, it made him the hero of summer. From that day on, at every festival, Dracurito would be the star, spitting ice cubes and bringing smiles to everyone.
